Overview

Over time, the cheek area loses volume and makes the face look older and tired. Voluma uses a hyaluronic acid based filler that is used instead of silicone to re-build lost volume in the cheeks and create a more youthful appearance. Voluma can also be used to build cheek volume in patients with naturally thin cheeks. Dr. Robert Najera, a plastic surgeon serving Frisco, Plano, Allen, McKinney, and other surrounding areas, uses Voluma to minimize wrinkles and creases on the face and restore its youthful contours. This nonsurgical, skin rejuvenation procedure is sometimes known as a liquid facelift.

What To Expect

Dr. Najera will inject Voluma into the patient’s skin with a fine needle during an in-office appointment. To ease discomfort, numbing creams are applied to the treated area before the injections or lidocaine can be mixed into the Voluma for an anesthetic effect. Most patients are able to resume their normal activities several hours after the procedure. Patients should expect to have temporary swelling, discoloration, and tenderness in the area treated for a few days. The results of Voluma are seen right away and usually last for up to 2 years.

Expected Cost

The cost of Voluma is determined by the amount of syringes used during the treatment. Each syringe costs around $1,000 and each session may use between 2 and 6 syringes based on the patient’s goals. Voluma is more expensive than many other dermal fillers, but it is an advanced formula that last longer than other treatments.

Voluma FAQs

Is Hyaluronic Acid Natural?

Voluma’s main ingredient, hyaluronic acid, is made from substances found naturally in the human body. Hyaluronic acid is primarily used for cell hydration, but it can also create volume in certain areas of the face. The body naturally absorbs Voluma as it breaks down without problems or side effects.

Ideal Candidate?

Voluma is best used in patients who want to add volume to their cheeks without an invasive surgery. Cheek volume is usually lost over time, but some patients may want Voluma to fill out their natural facial structure. In the initial consultation, Dr. Najera will discuss your options and help you decide the best treatment plan.

How Long is Recovery?

Patients are allowed to return to their normal routine immediately after their Voluma treatment, but should not put any pressure on the area treated and strenuous activity should be avoided. The derma filler will settle into the cheek pockets for up to a week after the procedure.

Long Lasting?

Voluma can last 2 years or longer, but it is different for each patient based on the rate that their body breaks down the hyaluronic acid. Dr. Najera will help you determine when you need another treatment.
