Overview
Breast implant surgery can give you the beautiful, feminine bust line you’ve always wanted. However, some breast implants may require revision after the initial procedure. This may include problems with rippling, displacement of the implant, excess skin, and poor scarring. Some women may decide they simply want a new size or shape all together. During your consultation with North Dallas-based (Frisco, Plano, Allen, McKinney) plastic surgeon, Dr. Robert Najera, he will provide you with insight regarding breast revision surgery and discuss a treatment plan to correct your specific problem or address your aesthetic goals.
Why Get Revision?
The most common reasons that a woman may need breast implant revision surgery include the following:
Concerns With Placement
In some cases, breast implants are placed too high or too low on the chest, resulting in an undesirable and often unnatural appearance. In the case of implants that are set too high, Dr. Najera can perform a relatively simple procedure that involves making the pocket for the implant slightly lower. The implant shifts naturally down into the desired place, thereby producing the desired result. When implants fall too low – whether due to surgical technique or the force of gravity over time – Dr. Najera can effectively elevate the implant by reducing the pocket inferiorly.
Other Reasons for Breast Revision
Size Problems
Because breast implants are measured in cubic centimeters rather than by cup size, it is difficult to perform an implant procedure with a desired bra size in mind. For some women, their post-surgery cup size doesn't quite match what they had in mind. Dr. Najera will take the time to sit down and talk with you about your desired results, looking over photographs of breasts that fall into the range you would prefer. Then, depending on the results of your discussion, he can alter the size of your breasts by removing your current implant and replacing it with one that better suits your intended size.
Capsular Contracture
Capsular contracture (the hardening of the implant and the surrounding tissue) occurs when scar tissue develops around the implant itself. The patient may experience discomfort and even severe pain over time. To correct this problem, Dr. Najera can remove the offending scar tissue so that the implant can settle back into its proper place, so the implant once again feels soft and natural.
Ruptured Implants
Dr. Najera can also address problems with implants that have ruptured, whether this occurs gradually or suddenly. He will discuss with you the available options, including complete removal of the ruptured breast implant and replacement. The primary goal is to ensure the patient’s overall health and satisfaction with her ultimate appearance.
Expected Cost
The cost of breast implant revision will depend on the patient’s needs and goals. A typical revision costs between $5,000 and $10,000.
Breast Revision Reviews
I underwent a LBL, liposuction 360, and breast implant exchange procedure with Dr. Najera, and I couldn't be happier with the outcomes. There are moments when I find myself doing a double-take because I'm amazed that this is my own body. My scars and belly button look flawless, which was my main worry, and Dr. Najera surpassed all my expectations. If you're contemplating surgery, I highly recommend it! Choosing Dr. Najera was truly the best decision I made, and I am grateful for the dream body he has given me.

Excellet Results! I'm a 62 year old who had breast implants 14 years ago. They needed to go and after we discussed Dr. N removed the old implants and provided volume and fullness by lipo and using my own good fat instead of new implants. They look AWESOME and its only been a few weeks!
