Overview
From cosmetic enhancements to full breast reconstruction, there are numerous considerations for why you may want to have breast augmentation surgery. This is a procedure that uses a silicone or saline breast implant to increase the size, shape and look of the breasts. Breast augmentation can also restore the breasts after a mastectomy and correct breast asymmetry, creating a youthful appearance and improve self-esteem. Frisco-based, TX plastic surgeon, Dr. Robert Najera, has performed countless breast augmentation procedures for patients in the North Dallas area (serving Frisco, Plano, McKinney, and Allen). His outcomes produce natural, gorgeous results for women.

Implant Types
Saline and silicone gel implants both have a rubber silicone shell; the big difference is the filler material. Choosing the type and size of breast implants you want depends on a number of factors and Dr. Najera will discuss all of these during your initial consultation. Factors that will be taken into consideration are sizing (the number of CCs), implant projection, implant width and implant shape. All of these components are assessed so that a natural, fuller look can be achieved. Silicone gel implants are often the better choice for thinner women and for breast reconstruction. However, saline implants require smaller incisions. Your bust line may also benefit from a breast lift in addition to your breast augmentation to give you your best results. Breasts that have a certain degree of sag or loose skin will most likely require a lift first. This will also be discussed during the consultation.
During/After Surgery
During breast augmentation surgery, the patient is placed under general anesthesia while the surgery is performed. A typical breast augmentation takes about 1 hour, but it can take longer if more shaping is needed or other procedures are performed. Patients are allowed to leave the same day as the procedure to rest at home and will be advised to follow Dr. Najera’s recovery instructions. Final results will be seen 6-8 weeks after the surgery when the implants have settled into their final position. Scarring is usually not an issue with breast augmentation surgery. In many cases, the incision is placed under the breast in the crease or along the areola.
