Is your skin in need of rejuvenation? Are you bothered by age/sun spots, broken capillaries, or just the overall appearance of your skin? Lumenis® M22™ provides an Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment—also known as a Photofacial treatment—designed to gently and effectively treat a wide range of skin conditions, including:
- Skin discoloration and blemishes (sun/age spots and freckles)
- Port wine stains
- Visible signs of aging
- Spider veins or broken capillaries
- Hemangiomas (a benign tumor of blood vessels that forms a red birthmark)
How Does M22 IPL Work?
IPL photo-rejuvenation technology treats pigmentation and vascular imperfections, while improving your skin’s overall appearance. Lumenis IPL with optimal pulse technology lets your physician customize your treatment to your skin type and the results you want.
Light pulses move through the skin, creating heat and targeting skin imperfections in a controlled way. The treated area then flakes off when your body goes through its natural and constant process of exfoliation. At the same time, collagen and elastic fibers are stimulated, which results in a visible improvement of your skin’s tone and overall appearance.
IPL Photofacial Reviews
"After having two children, I put on a lot of weight. After several months in the gym and dieting, I lost a lot of weight but was left with a lot of extra skin in my stomach area. For years I was self conscious and was unhappy with my body. I decided to go in to see Dr. Najera for a consultation for a lower body lift and BBL. From start to finish my experience was awesome. His staff are all AMAZING and knowledgeable. Dr. Najera made me feel very comfortable and at ease. He was patient and took the time to make sure I understood everything. I am now 13 weeks post-op from surgery. My results went above and beyond my expectations. This procedure was life changing for me, I look at my body in the mirror and hardly recognize myself. I've gained back my confidence with my new body and have nobody to thank but Dr. Najera. Dr. Najera and his team are hands down THE BEST!"- L.S. / Google / Dec 04, 2017

Dr. Najera made sure I was right and tight, this place is a very professional organization. Already having to send people his way! Thank you, Dr. Najera!"- T.H. / Google / Feb 19, 2018

"There aren't enough words in the English vocabulary to express how grateful I am for Dr.Najera and his staff. My experience from the start to now (three months post op) has been incredible. Jessica Benenate is so special to me. She always made sure I was taken care of at all times and made me feel secure (and continues to make sure I'm doing great). Dr. Najera's attention to detail was necessary to fix a previous bbl I had done. I am in love with my results and finally feel like I belong in my skin. The entire staff at Dr.Najera's is kind and informed, something that is greatly appreciated. I am over the moon with excitement to continue to see progress in my awesome results. Don't look any further, Dr.Najera is your savior!"- V.M. / Google / Oct 10, 2018
"Look No Further! - There aren't enough words in the English language to express my gratitude to Dr.Najera and his staff. Jessica Benenate made sure that I was well taken care of throughout my entire journey; she continues to do so even three months post-op. This surgery was a revision bbl. It was necessary for me because I had a previous surgery with another doctor and it deformed me. As you can imagine, my..."- V. / RealSelf / Oct 09, 2018
Who is a good candidate?
You’re a good candidate for IPL (Photofacial) treatment if you are looking to reduce visible signs of aging or if you are bothered by skin discoloration caused by:
- Sun damage
- Other pigment problems like broken capillaries and rosacea
Is M22 IPL Treatment Safe?
Lumenis treatments are developed by laser medical experts, and all treatments, including M22 IPL (Photofacial), are FDA-approved and clinically proven to get results. Advanced technology allows your clinician to adjust the settings according to your skin type, skin color, and the specific skin treatment you choose.
What happens in a Session?
Your IPL (Photofacial) treatment should not take more than 45 minutes. It is a quick, in-office procedure with minimum discomfort. Your clinician will apply topical numbing cream to your face. This cream will need to incubate—sit on the skin—for 20 to 30 minutes so that your skin can absorb it. You may experience a warm sensation as the light is applied to your skin, but the treatment is very gentle.
Plan Your Procedure
What can i expect?
For 2 to 24 hours, you may feel and see your skin flushing. Sometimes patients experience very mild swelling, depending on how sensitive their skin is. Freckles and hyper-pigmented lesions will turn darker and look dry for four to seven days and then start flaking off gradually and naturally. If you have a vascular lesion that is treated, you may develop some bruising, which is more common when vascular lesions are treated off face areas.
How long till i see results?
The normal recovery period varies between two and five days, depending on your skin sensitivity and the treatment performed, but you can expect to see a substantial difference in hyper-pigmented lesions, vascular lesions, and your overall skin texture within one week of treatment.
For some conditions, it may take a few sessions to see the best results. In general, the heavier your skin blemishes, the more treatments you’ll need. The staff at North Texas Plastic Surgery can give you an idea of this when you come in for a consultation.
How Long do the Results Last?
M22 IPL (Photofacial) treatments are simultaneously gentle and very effective. After you have completed the treatment plan that you and your clinician determine during your consultation, you can have one session of IPL (Photofacial) once a year as maintenance, if you choose to.
Your results will last longer if you take good care of your skin by using a good antioxidant and sunscreen, as well as avoiding sun exposure as much as possible.
While IPL treats existing skin problems, it doesn’t prevent new ones from developing. For instance, if you get treated for sun-damaged skin, you’ll still need to take steps to prevent sun damage in the future.
