Is your skin in need of rejuvenation? Are you bothered by age/sun spots, broken capillaries, or just the overall appearance of your skin? Lumenis® M22™ provides an Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment—also known as a Photofacial treatment—designed to gently and effectively treat a wide range of skin conditions, including:
- Skin discoloration and blemishes (sun/age spots and freckles)
- Port wine stains
- Visible signs of aging
- Spider veins or broken capillaries
- Hemangiomas (a benign tumor of blood vessels that forms a red birthmark)
How Does M22 IPL Work?@headingTag>
IPL photo-rejuvenation technology treats pigmentation and vascular imperfections, while improving your skin’s overall appearance. Lumenis IPL with optimal pulse technology lets your physician customize your treatment to your skin type and the results you want.
Light pulses move through the skin, creating heat and targeting skin imperfections in a controlled way. The treated area then flakes off when your body goes through its natural and constant process of exfoliation. At the same time, collagen and elastic fibers are stimulated, which results in a visible improvement of your skin’s tone and overall appearance.
"Dr. Najera hands down is the BEST doctor. I had a complete mommy make over and Dr. Najera and his staff especially his coordinator Amber have been nothing but EXCELLENT. Office staff is pleasant and professional. Dr. Najera has ALWAYS been about my happiness and well being. He is very professional and explained everything to me and answered EVERY question I ever had. "Breast Cancer/ Breast Reconstruction - I was referred by my breast surgeon to see Dr. Najera for the reconstruction. When I visited the office for the first time I immediately felt comfortable. Originally I was referred to another plastic surgeon and did not feel comfortable in that office. Thankfully I ended up with Dr. Najera. His staff are very courteous and professional. Needing a bilateral mastectomy was scary but they made me feel better about the whole procedure. Dr. Najera was very professional and explained everything clearly. He loves what he does and his work shows. I would absolutely refer Dr. Najera to anyone and everyone. I am very pleased with the results of my reconstruction. Thank you!"- P. / RealSelf / Jan 04, 2017
"Caring and supportive Staff - Frisco, TX - I knew I wanted the procedure but forgot to ask so many questions until after it was done. The staff and Dr. Najera were very responsive to my concerns and listened to me weeks after my surgery. It turns out to be a scary experience after the surgery but they help every step of the way."- J. / RealSelf / Dec 29, 2016
"Dr. Najera is awesome - Frisco, TX - Dr. Najera performed reconstruction surgery after my bilateral mastectomy. I was very pleased with the results. The scars barely show. His bedside manner is kind and compassionate. Everyone on his staff is friendly. I would recommend him to anyone."- 2. / RealSelf / Dec 29, 2016
"34, 2 C-sections and Lots of Damage from Big Ol' Babies - Frisco, TX - It has only been around 6 weeks since my tt, but I cannot say enough good things about not only Dr. Najera, but his amazing office staff. From my very first visit, I felt like everyone was genuinely interested in helping me feel better, physically and self-esteem wise. Any time I had a question, be it by e-mail or phone message, I received a response quickly, and never felt like I was silly for asking. They really want to make sure you are informed for your recovery. So far everything has healed perfectly, and while I am still swollen (totally to be expected at this stage) I could not be happier with my results. I feel so much more confident and cannot wait to be able to do all of the things with my kids that my diastasis was keeping me from before. If you are considering getting a tt or mommy makeover at all, it is totally worth it, and Dr. Najera is a wonderful choice for a surgeon. I would totally do it again."- L. / RealSelf / Aug 18, 2016
Who is a good candidate?@headingTag>
You’re a good candidate for IPL (Photofacial) treatment if you are looking to reduce visible signs of aging or if you are bothered by skin discoloration caused by:
- Sun damage
- Other pigment problems like broken capillaries and rosacea
Is M22 IPL Treatment Safe?@headingTag>
Lumenis treatments are developed by laser medical experts, and all treatments, including M22 IPL (Photofacial), are FDA-approved and clinically proven to get results. Advanced technology allows your clinician to adjust the settings according to your skin type, skin color, and the specific skin treatment you choose.
What happens in a Session?@headingTag>
Your IPL (Photofacial) treatment should not take more than 45 minutes. It is a quick, in-office procedure with minimum discomfort. Your clinician will apply topical numbing cream to your face. This cream will need to incubate—sit on the skin—for 20 to 30 minutes so that your skin can absorb it. You may experience a warm sensation as the light is applied to your skin, but the treatment is very gentle.
Plan Your Procedure
What can i expect?@headingTag>
For 2 to 24 hours, you may feel and see your skin flushing. Sometimes patients experience very mild swelling, depending on how sensitive their skin is. Freckles and hyper-pigmented lesions will turn darker and look dry for four to seven days and then start flaking off gradually and naturally. If you have a vascular lesion that is treated, you may develop some bruising, which is more common when vascular lesions are treated off face areas.
How long till i see results?@headingTag>
The normal recovery period varies between two and five days, depending on your skin sensitivity and the treatment performed, but you can expect to see a substantial difference in hyper-pigmented lesions, vascular lesions, and your overall skin texture within one week of treatment.
For some conditions, it may take a few sessions to see the best results. In general, the heavier your skin blemishes, the more treatments you’ll need. The staff at North Texas Plastic Surgery can give you an idea of this when you come in for a consultation.
How Long do the Results Last?@headingTag>
M22 IPL (Photofacial) treatments are simultaneously gentle and very effective. After you have completed the treatment plan that you and your clinician determine during your consultation, you can have one session of IPL (Photofacial) once a year as maintenance, if you choose to.
Your results will last longer if you take good care of your skin by using a good antioxidant and sunscreen, as well as avoiding sun exposure as much as possible.
While IPL treats existing skin problems, it doesn’t prevent new ones from developing. For instance, if you get treated for sun-damaged skin, you’ll still need to take steps to prevent sun damage in the future.
