Overview

A facelift is a cosmetic surgery procedure that eliminates the visible signs of aging on the face, such as wrinkles and skin sagging. Using modern cosmetic surgery techniques, Frisco/Plano, TX plastic surgeon, Dr. Robert Najera, can perform a facelift procedure that will produce natural-looking results that last years. A facelift procedure is relatively simple and this treatment can correct problems such as droopy jowls, midface sagging, cheek laxity, deep creases in the lower eyelids and deep wrinkles around the mouth. There are variations to this surgery depending on how much skin tightening is needed and the overall aesthetic result desired by the patient.

Surgical Technique

A facelift involves the removal of sagging skin on the face. Dr. Najera will lift and tighten the skin and muscles, making the incisions so that any scarring is completely covered by the hair. He will customize the facelift, taking a great deal of time to talk with the patient to make sure that he fully understands the specific cosmetic goals and needs. The technique used will be based on the patient’s facial features and conditions. There are facelifts that address the skin only, and some that go deeper into the muscle. Patients that require a more extensive facelift will have incisions that extend from the temple to the lower hairline behind the ear. Excess fat and skin will be removed and then the remaining skin will be lifted and reshaped to create a tighter, softer skin appearance.

During/After Surgery

A rhytidectomy is performed under general anesthesia and can take 2-4 hours to complete. Some patients will require an overnight stay, but most are released from the hospital the same day. When Dr. Najera performs a facelift, he removes excess facial skin, tightens underlying tissues, and reshapes the skin of the face and neck into a more youthful framework. The facelift procedure can be coupled with nonsurgical cosmetic treatments such as BOTOX and Juvéderm. From this point, patients can maintain the results with minor touch ups through the years. It is normal to have bruising and swelling for 1 – 2 weeks after the procedure. Full results will be seen in 3 months.

Expected Cost

A facelift can cost between $8,000 and $14,000 depending on what is included in the procedure. Dr. Najera will be better able to estimate the cost after discussing the treatment plan in the initial consultation.
