Overview

With aging and childbirth, the muscles to the vagina can stretch and loosen resulting in decreased sensation during intercourse or difficulty achieving sexual arousal and/or orgasms. ThermiVa is an in office procedure for vaginal rejuvenation that uses radiofrequency to tighten the inside of the vagina as well as the opening of the vagina by stimulating collagen production. This results in not only a tighter vagina but it has also helped treat urinary leakage and improved vaginal lubrication for our patients. Both patients and their partners have reported significantly improved sexual satisfaction.  Our practice is proud to use ThermiVa as a nonsurgical alternative.

ThermiVa

ThermiVa is a radio frequency (RF) that specifically treats the tissue of the labia and vagina.  Dr. Najera uses ThermiVa to safely heat the tissue of the labia or vagina in a controlled manner until collagen production has been stimulated. The additional collagen will strengthen the skin and tissue, which will minimize loose skin. ThermiVa does not cause the patient any pain or discomfort during or after the procedure and patients see fast results.

Procedure Technique

Since ThermiVa does not require anesthesia, patients can be treated in the convenience of Dr. Najera’s office. The small ThermiVa wand will deliver controlled heat in the form of radiofrequency energy to the vagina or labia majora. The advantages of ThermiVa is that there is no pain, no anesthesia required and no downtime. Patients may return to work after the procedure and may have intercourse the same evening.

Estimated Cost

ThermiVa usually costs between $3,000 to $4,500 which includes 3 sessions to treat the vagina and/or labia majora. The number of treatments depends on the quality of the skin and the desired result. The best results are seen for most women after 3 sessions set a month apart. Patients may choose to have both areas treated at the same time.

Thermiva FAQs

Results?

Dr. Najera recommends that patients receive 3 treatments set 1 month apart to get the best results. Results can be immediate in some patients or they may become noticeable within the first 3 months after the procedure. Results typically last up to 12-18 months, but yearly touch-up treatments can be scheduled to maintain the patient’s results.

Other Concerns?

In addition to vaginal tightening, vaginal rejuvenation treatments can help with urinary incontinence, vaginal dryness, sexual dysfunction, and the symptoms caused by perimenopause.

When To Get Treated?

For women who just completed childbirth,  we recommend that one should wait at least 2 – 3 months after they have given birth to start ThermiVa.

Is It Safe?

Dr. Najera only performs vaginal rejuvenation with many features that ensure the safety of the patient. The wand that is applied to the treated areas includes a built-in thermometer that transmits the temperature to the computer, which will adjust as needed to prevent burns. There have been no significant side effects or problems reported from RF vaginal rejuvenation.
